if true, TG is keeping his word about hiring West Virginians/ex Marshall guys.
he coached LBs here from 2021-23?  so he retired or was fired after 2023- did he coach anywhere in 2024?
just hope this is correct way to go, because i think most of us want the best available, within budget, for every position.

Huff can only get first timers and reclamation projects

Utah State announced its intention to fire Anderson on July 2, 2024, prior to the start of the 2024 football season, which was made formal on July 18.[13][14] Following an internal investigation, he was alleged to have been non-compliant with university rules regarding the reporting of complaints of sexual misconduct. Defensive coordinator Nate Dreiling succeeded Anderson as interim head coach.[15][16

Sorry, I wasn't clear on that. MCA23 has an interesting post on the Blake hire. It doesn't seem to be a "Grand Slam Hire for Huff".

    More details on Anderson.
"Utah State?s Blake Anderson was fired for contacting a potential domestic violence victim and a witness to the incident after an Aggies football player was arrested, and failing to properly report the case, according to a termination letter sent to the coach earlier this month.

The final report of the review conducted by the Husch Blackwell law firm and the termination letter from athletic director Diana Sabau and university President Elizabeth Cantwell were obtained Friday by The Associated Press through an open records request.

The review concluded that Anderson violated university policy by failing to report information to the Office of Equity.

?He also undermined the university?s goal of responding diligently to issues of sexual misconduct by delaying suspension of this student athlete and failing to disclose the arrest information with other university administrators while discussing climate issues within the football program,? the report said.

Anderson?s response to the school?s termination letter said he was fired for ?convenience,? not for cause, and that the investigation that led to his dismissal was a ?sham.? Anderson argues he was not required to report under Utah State?s policy but his actions nonetheless met reporting requirements."

  • On potential hires like Quinn Sanders, I will watch with interest on how they do.  All the legendary coaches started somewhere.  Granted more of the young ones peak out much lower, but reading his bio I think that if this is the hire that he may be a good one.  From Florida originally and he has recruiting experience.  Potential southern recruiting connection.

  • Coach Pruett used to say that when he was hiring coaches that he did not really care what level they came from , he cared whether they were competing for championships.

Then in that case, we should hire Joey Fields at Herbert Hoover or that coach from Martinsburg.

  • I personally think we are spending too much money to take chances at the coordinator positions. Would love to have the guy on staff, but OC is a very important position.

Maybe I?m wrong and this guy is the next Brian Kelly or Rich Rod.

If he is officially hired then I will support him 100% until proven otherwise. Just think this position is too important for that much on the job training.

2 years OC, 3 years HC  27-8 as HC.  Two conference championships as HC and twice COTY...I'm good with it.
